Village center, Am Wendeplatz Titmaringhausen
Village center, church in Düdinghausen
From Titmaringhausen, our hiking trail lives up to its name "Medebacher Bergweg", as it leads us steeply up into the forest area of the Warmecker Berg. It is always rewarding to have a view of Hessenland with Goldhausen and the Eisenberg on the horizon. We hike through idyllic Buchenwalds and discover the bubbling Diemel spring. A special experience is the Hochheide with the Usseln cross, from here the view sweeps far into the Hessian mountains. Arriving on the other side of the mountain, there are again fantastic distant views at the Kalied.
The deep hollow way from Spitzbubenbusch down to Düdinghausen is for many hikers the most beautiful and rustic section of the Medebach mountain trail, it bears witness to centuries of use. Arriving at the church, picture boards explain the eventful history of the border village and the Dreggestobe is waiting to be discovered.
The mountain trail is marked throughout with the "Maltese Cross" , the sign of the Lords of the Cross.Wherever possible, we have placed red stickers with this cross, in the open countryside we have partly preferred paint and brush, there you will find white crosses on a black background. From Titmaringhausen we follow the Maltese cross steeply uphill into the forest area of the Warmecker Berg. Attention: At a bend in the path, the trail turns right into the Buchenwald forest until it reaches the historical border stones at the NRW/Hessen state border. Here again turn right, the trail now leads almost 5 km through Hessian-Waldeck territory to the source of the Diemel. Then it goes steeply uphill for about 500m, then left into the forest. Through the Usseln Heid a narrow great path has been created, which leads up to the Usselner Kreuz at the same level as the Uplandsteig. Hiking further on the Hochheide we reach Kalied on the other side of the mountain. Past the refuge and the Kahle-Pön hikers' parking lot, the trail leads from the Spitzbubenbusch through a sunken path down to the village of Düdinghauen.
Current information about our forests - The bark beetle and its consequences. The forest owners are trying to tackle the necessary measures in the forests and to remove the damaged wood. However, this work cannot be accomplished in a short period of time due to its magnitude. The clearing and reforestation of the damaged forest stands will therefore take a long time and sometimes lead to disruptions such as closures and detour in the forests. This must always be taken into account when visiting the forest. We therefore appeal to everyone who cares about the forest: Please understand that extensive forest work is necessary in the current situation and that this is currently accompanying your forest experience.Be especially attentive during your leisure activities and observe prevailing instructions and, if necessary, prohibitions. Please show consideration ...
