Schrabben Hof Cultural Estate , Silberger Str. 32, 57399 Kirchhundem
The Schrabbenhof Cultural Estate offers a nice stop with its nostalgic café on Wednesdays from 2:30pm to 5pm and every 2nd Sunday of the month from 1pm to 5pm.
More info about the Sauerland-Seelenorte quarry at the Schinkenkeller can be found here.
The encounter with the place of the soul "Quarry at the Schinkenkeller" can be combined well with a small easy circular hike. The forest path offers a pleasant attunement to the place of the soul or time and peace to let the experiences reverberate.
The former "Schinkenkeller" was located in the immediate vicinity of the quarry. It is, according to oral tradition from the village, an old former gallery, which was used in wartime for the storage of ham and other supplies.
On Wednesday afternoons and on every 2nd Sunday of the month, the café in the Schrabben Hof cultural estate opens and entices visitors to linger with fresh waffles, cakes, coffee, cold drinks, etc.
From the starting point at the Schrabben Hof cultural estate ( Silberger Straße 32, 57399 Kirchhundem), head slightly uphill in the direction of "Müsener Straße". At the first road junction turn right into the road "Zur Weinspitze" and go straight uphill until the asphalted road ends at the edge of the forest. Here you continue straight ahead on a forest road and after about 100m turn left into the signposted forest road (X). At the next junction continue straight on; there follow the marking (X) on the tree trunk. After an extended right-hand bend, there is a bench on the left side of the path. From there it is about 200m to the entrance of the quarry on the right. The view is of mossy slopes, dead trees and a small dark pond. Another entrance is located a few meters further, also on the right side. If you continue to follow the circular path slightly downhill, you will reach a fork in the road after about 1.0 km. Here you follow the asphalt road that leads downhill into the "Müsener Straße" and later into the "Silberger Straße", back to the starting point Kulturgut Schrabben Hof.
Information about the rescue boardsMostly hiking trails run away from villages and settlements and every hiker has already thought about what would happen if there was an emergency. How can I be found here? Where am I at all? Can the rescue service reach me?But in an emergency, things have to happen quickly! That's why the network of hiking trails in the Lennestadt & Kirchhundem region is equipped throughout with so-called rescue signs. On the green and white plaques, which are attached to the posts of the signposts, there is a number that you have to give when you make your emergency call. This way, the emergency services know exactly where you are and valuable time can be saved.
Silberg can be reached from Lennestadt-Altenhundem at regular intervals of 2 hours by bus R91 (direction Brachthausen).
