The 9.4 km long hiking trail is a family-friendly hike and takes you through our nature reserve to the MS Muffert boat dock at the dam.

The start of the family hike is at the parking lot Strandbad Heringhausen. Here you will also find a landing stage of the "MS Muffert" which will take you back to the start at the end of the hike. Follow the signs "FW". The path leads to the right over the pier in the direction of Stormbruch, past the campsites and the sailboat harbor to the Itter arm of Lake Diemelsee. You will be led through the nature reserve (NSG) to the confluence of the Itter and the Diemelsee. Once you have arrived, you have the choice of following the Diemelsteig hiking trail (x15) or the ferry boat trail in the direction of Helminghausen. Here you walk past the Helminghausen lido and continue to the boat harbor of the "MS Muffert", which will take you back to the Heringhausen lido.
