The 9.4 km hiking trail is a family-friendly hike and takes you through our nature reserve to the MS Muffert jetty at the dam wall.

The family hike starts at the Heringhausen lido parking lot. There is also a landing stage for the "MS Muffert" here, which will take you back to the start at the end of the hike. Follow the signs for "FW". The path leads to the right over the pier in the direction of Stormbruch, past the campsites and the sailing boat harbor to the Itter arm of Diemelsee. You will be guided through the nature reserve (NSG) to where the Itter flows into the Diemelsee. Once you arrive, you have the choice of following the Diemelsteig hiking trail (x15) or continuing along the ferry hiking trail towards Helminghausen. Here you walk past the Helminghausen lido and on to the "MS Muffert" boat harbor, which will take you back to the Heringhausen lido.
