On the trail of milk with Lotte the cow
The theme trail takes us to eight milk stations: A walk with lots of fun and information about milk!
Explore the cowshed, enjoy wide panoramic views over the "Tuscany" of the Sauerland, have a picnic with delicious dairy products and learn something new about the regional specialties along the way. All this and much more is offered in and around Referinghausen by eight milk stations, where information boards inform about milk production, nature and landscape as well as their interrelationship.
At the last milk station a great playground invites you to romp and experience!
By the way: In Referinghausen live more cows (about 400) than inhabitants (about 250)!
To discover the milk trail in Referinghausen, you just have to follow the symbol of Lotte the cow. From the exit board at the hikers' parking lot, we follow the road 'Zum Ehrenmahl' to the multi-generation square. Here we zigzag uphill along the Open Mind Places 'Unter- & und Oberholz'. "Am Steimel" the route leads through the forest to the 3rd station and follow the path further to the 4th station. Then to the right, at the fork again to the right, then to the left, next fork to the right to the 5th milk station, continue in the direction of L872, where we already meet the next milk station, the "Alte Molkerei". From here we continue in the direction of Referinghausen to station 7, then left to the last milk station at the playground, where we finish the little tour.
Note: To board 3 it goes steeply up directly from the village. This section of the trail is not suitable for strollers.Current information about our forests - The bark beetle and its consequencesThe forest owners are trying to tackle the necessary measures in the forests and to remove the damaged wood. This must always be taken into account when visiting the forest. We therefore appeal to everyone who cares about the forest:Please understand that extensive forest work is necessary in the current situation and that this is currently accompanying your forest experience.Be especially attentive during your leisure activities and observe prevailing instructions and, if necessary, prohibitions. Please show consideration ...
