On the Rothaarsteig we hike to Langewiese up to the Hoher Knochen. After a short descent into the Lenne valley, we follow the course of the Lenne up the valley to Lenneplätze and from there back to the starting point in Neuastenberg.
Information
Directions
From the tourist information office, the N2 runs west below the Gerkenstein (790 m) on the old Grenzweg and Rothaarsteig. We turn left in the direction of Langewiese to leave the main trail to the right after about 300m. After 100 m we walk on a steeper path down into the Lenne valley. Via a narrow path we cross the still young Lenne. With a steep ascent we reach after 300 m the pass of the Hoher Knochen (642 m) with the mountain hotel. A short rest is offered. From here the N2 leads us through a beautiful Buchenwald on the sunny side of the Hohen Knochen to the hunting huts. After a short descent into the Lenne valley we follow the course of the Lenne up the valley past the fish ponds to Lenneplätze, the highest point of our hike at 760 m above sea level. From here we reach our starting point Neuastenberg after a few meters.
