On a "hot" trail, the path leads to an extinct volcano and thus becomes a journey into times gone by. In the immediate vicinity of the largest gold deposit in Europe, the spectacular "Klondike feeling" comes up.

This circular hiking trail in the Diemelsee Nature Park starts in the village of Welleringhausen - one of the smallest villages in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district. In the nature park at the foot of the long extinct Grotenberg volcano, hikers repeatedly come across traces of earth and border history. The most diverse plant species unfold their blossoms there. Typical are heath carnation, field thyme and sharp wall pepper. Who is on the way with the trained Geopark guide, learns many exciting things about the flora of the nature park and about the geological events.
