Along a 2-kilometer stretch (about 3 kilometers from the parking lot) and at 9 interactive stations, spruce mikados, humming stones, and hammocks invite you to experience the world of the forest with all your senses.

Our forest in the Sauerland region has been through some turbulent times. Hurricanes before and after the major storm Kyrill in 2007 really took their toll on it and left behind severe damage. The Forest Fairy Trail on the Hängeberg offers a deeper insight into the forest as a habitat —past, present, and future.
The Forest Fairy Trail is an ideal family hiking trail—3 km long and easy to walk—featuring highly interesting stops for both children and adults. The Forest Fairy, a symbol of the Brilon-Wald Forest, provides interactive and informative insights and food for thought to help visitors understand this important natural area right on our doorstep as it has changed over time.
Those who want to hike longer can tackle the “Geologischer Sprung” themed trail—the start and finish are the same as those of the Forest Fairy Trail.

Directions
From the parking lot with the information sign, cross the street and walk past the Landgasthof Gruss. At the next fork in the path, take the left, gravel path. After about 100 meters, you’ll reach the first station —the Baummikado. Then follow the path clockwise up the short incline toward Station 2. After that, keep following the “little forest fairy” around the Hängeberg until you return to the first station.
Equipment
Sturdy shoes are helpful.
Safety guidelines
There are two shelters along the way (near Station 8).
Author Tip
The path is stroller-friendly —however, the surface is gravel, so pneumatic tires are recommended.
