The hike begins in the center of Oberkirchen at the Landhotel Gasthof Schütte. From Oberkirchen, the trail leads uphill along a nature trail through the scenic “Sommerseite” nature reserve to Döpp’s barn. The trail then continues up to the Ennest, where you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view and a spectacular vista of the Lenne Valley. The trail then descends toward Gut Vorwald, where you can stop for a break. Following a nature trail past Hirscheck, you’ll gradually make your way back to Oberkirchen. Along the way, there are several more opportunities to stop for a break.

A system of emergency aid stations has been set up in the Hochsauerland district. You can find these stations on information boards at intersections and on hiking trail signs, among other places.
Welcome to the Sommerseite Nature Reserve
In the Sommerseite Nature Reserve, sheep and goats are occasionally used for landscape management. They make a valuable contribution to preserving the unique heathland landscape and promote natural biodiversity.
The hiking trail leads through the pastures and is accessible through a gate. To ensure the protection of people, animals, and nature alike, we ask that you observe the following guidelines:
Please do not feed the animals.
Always close gates and fences carefully after entering and leaving the nature reserve.
Stay on the marked trails.
Do not pick or damage any plants.

Author Tip
We recommend following the route as described (Sommerseite, Ennest, Gut Vorwald), because the views get better and better as the terrain rises.

You can reach Oberkirchen by taking bus line S 40. The "Kirche" stop is located right at the starting point of the Golddorf Route.

The hiking parking lot is located right on the B236 in the town center.

At the starting point of the route, in the center of Oberkirchen, there are a limited number of parking spaces available at the hiking parking lot. Additional parking spaces can be found near the Schützenhalle on Schützenstraße.
