The third stage of the Olsberg Kneipp Hiking Trail is a scenic loop hike that leads up to the 729-meter-high Ohlenberg. Starting at the reservoir, the route initially follows quiet trails before a scenic path ascends toward Helmeringhausen, offering the first sweeping views of the young Ruhrtal. Around Schmalenberg and Wiedegge, the Sauerland reveals its natural side: forested stretches, open vistas, and the constant alternation between ascents and rest periods define the character of this stage. A small sign marks the path to the summit cross, where the Ohlenberg, as the tour’s destination, reveals its special charm. On the way back, a typical feature of the Kneipp Hiking Trail awaits: the footbath at the Voßbach. Here, you can refresh your feet according to Kneipp’s teachings before the loop leads back via Helmeringhausen. The Ohlenberg Tour combines exercise, nature experiences, and the soothing Kneipp tradition into a varied hiking stage in the Olsberg Sauerland.

This third stage of the Olsberg Kneipp Hiking Trail begins at Olsberg Touristik, Ruhrstraße 32. The route first heads to the reservoir. From there, follow the bike path until you reach the main route of the Kneipp Hiking Trail, which, after about 2 km, turns left uphill onto a beautiful path leading toward Helmeringhausen. There, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the young Ruhrtal. The trail now continues uphill along the Kneipp Hiking Trail, marked with a “K.”The route goes around the Schmalenberg and the Wiedegge to the Ohlenberg, which rises to 729 m. Please look for the small sign marking the path to the summit cross.On the way back, you’ll pass the Voßbach footbath, where you can refresh your feet according to Kneipp’s teachings.To return to Olsberg Touristik—the starting point of the hike—follow the signs from the village of Helmeringhausen, either through the “Welle” or along the road (bike path).
