Information

Directions

Start your 1,200-meter walk at Wenneplatz. Here you’ll find a large information board with details about the Wenne Trail. Cross the Wenne Bridge and the Mühlengraben, above which the first information board provides details about how old water mills used to operate. The Wenne Trail now takes you left onto Passelweg, past the Wenne floodplains, to the old Pumpenhaus. Turn left here; the trail leads you directly along the Wenne River, past rapids and the Wenne beach. At the end of the trail, turn right and head uphill; the path now leads through a beautiful orchard meadow, past the wading pool to the final stop, the former Hammergraben. Take the same route back to return to the starting point.Along the way on this themed trail, a total of 12 information panels provide extensive details about the flora and fauna along and in the Wenne River, how people have used the Wenne, and the Wennebahn, the railroad line in the Wenne Valley. The themed trail is equipped with numerous benches and stations where visitors can take a break; children, in particular, will find plenty to discover here.

Equipment

Wear sturdy shoes; it can be slippery along the Wenne in wet weather.

Safety guidelines

A system of emergency aid stations has been set up in the Hochsauerland district. You can find these emergency aid stations on information boards at intersections and on hiking trail signs, among other places.
