Information

Directions

The winter hike begins at the Orketal hiking information center in the village center (Orkestraße). We head left and cross the country road as it bends near the Hotel Kaiserhof, then follow the street “Zum Orketal” for about 200 meters. At the fork in the trail, we keep to the right and continue on Burgstraße; after about 700 m, we turn right. Follow the trail for about 800 m, cross Kreuzherrenstraße (K56), and continue straight ahead for another 600 m. Then turn right onto Hammweg; we’ll pass the cemetery on our left, then turn right again onto Orkestraße and finally return to the starting point.

Equipment

Sturdy shoes and warm clothing.

Safety guidelines

Information on Cleared

Winter Hiking Trails: We would like to point out that local snow removal services prioritize ensuring public safety above all else. Depending on weather and snow conditions, this means that public roads take precedence over winter hiking trails and are cleared first. As a result, there may be delays in clearing the winter hiking trails. However, the city is committed to clearing the winter hiking trails for you.

Thank you for your understanding, and enjoy your winter hiking adventures!

Author Tip

Take a detour to Sankt-Engelbert-Straße. There you'll find the neo-Gothic rubble-stone church, built in 1910.
