From the hiking portal at the Haus des Gastes, the route leads via the Winterberg Hochtour up to the Alte Grimme, continuing to the "Schöne Aussicht" viewpoint. Past the Zeche Elend mine down into the Orketal valley to the deserted Wernsdorf church and on to the Ehrenscheid mill. There we leave the Winterberg Hochtour and follow the A1 hiking trail to the asphalt road. Here we leave the A1, which continues to the left, and walk straight on towards the country road to Elkeringhausen. Along the lake, following the E 2, we return to the starting point.

Follow the route of the Winterberg Hochtour (WHT) to the Ehrenscheider Mühle, from there follow trail A1 to the starting point at the Haus des Gastes.
