Gold Village Route Grafschaft
The Golddorf-Route Grafschaft takes you to the Wilzenberg, the "holy mountain of the Sauerland" with its beautiful view of the Sauerland. You pass the "Blinker II" sculpture, which is part of the Wittgenstein - Sauerland Forest Sculpture Trail, and the Grafschaft Monastery Specialist Hospital.

You start the circular walk at Grafschaft Monastery, the nucleus of the town of Schmallenberg. Grafschaft Convent was originally a Benedictine monastery until secularization. After the Second World War, Grafschaft Convent became the motherhouse of the Borromean Sisters. The order runs the Grafschaft Convent Lung Clinic.
From Grafschaft Monastery, you walk along the Golddörfer route through Grafschaft and then up to the Wilzenberg (658m). On the Wilzenberg, the Wilzenberg Chapel, built in the 16th century, invites you to linger. Just a little further on, the Kaiser Wilhelm Tower (Wilzenberg Tower), which is almost ten meters high, offers a beautiful view over Hochsauerland. Then it's back down into the Grafschaft valley, a 6 km long tributary of the Lenne.

Safety guidelines
A rescue point system has been installed in the Hochsauerland district. Rescue points can be found on the information boards at junctions and on hiking signs.

Limited parking spaces are available in the area of the Haus des Gastes in the center of the village. Further parking is available at the "Wilzenberg" hiking parking lot above Grafschaft (the hiking route leads directly past the hiking parking lot).
