Gold Villages Hiking Trail (17 km)
The Golddörferweg connects three beautiful “Gold Villages” in the Sauerland region into a scenic hiking tour featuring numerous points of interest. Whether it’s the church in Elleringhausen, the imposing Bruchhauser Steine, the unique Sauerland flower gardens, or the “Rose Village” of Assinghausen—this route has something for everyone.
The hiking trail can be started in any of the three “Gold Villages”; the starting point in each case is the village center. In Elleringhausen, the tour starts at the “Alter Kirchplatz” and initially leads uphill along Dorfstraße, past “Den Knochen” and the Way of the Cross to the Friedenskapelle, a special place of tranquility and one of the Sauerland-Seelenorte. From there, the trail continues via the Vockelied to the rose village of Assinghausen, which impresses with its idyllic Küsterland and the “Rose Rosary.” Passing the Küsterlandkapelle, the trail continues toward Lutterbecke and finally into Bruchhausen, the “European Gold Village.” Here, the route meets the access trail to the Rothaarsteig and leads back to Elleringhausen below the striking Bruchhauser peaks.

Take a look at the Bruchhauser Steine from a variety of angles. It's always a treat.
