Information

Directions

You start at the parking lot in the "Mein Homberg" ski area in Züschen. Right at the start, you climb the first few meters of altitude parallel to the toboggan slope and enjoy the view from the mountain station down into the valley to the climatic health resort of Züschen, as well as the challenging Ziegenhellenskihang (750 m) on the other side. You can then enjoy nature on near-natural paths past a wide variety of forest and tree species. At 4-5 stations, you will learn and experience lots of interesting facts about mouflon, explained in a very interesting and child-friendly way. You will now head up to the Radenstein at an altitude of 743 m. Here you hike for approx. 45 minutes directly along the border to the Hallenberg urban area. Passing old charcoal-burning sites, you hike around the Radenstein, keeping to the left, through the magnificent beech forest back towards the ski area. Here you reach your destination through spruce and beech trees down to the Hombergjause between the main ski lift and the toboggan slope. You have now earned a stop at the restaurant, which bears the mouflon logo.

Equipment

Sturdy shoes and weatherproof clothing.

Safety guidelines

The path is not suitable for baby carriages.

Author Tip

Take advantage of the silence on nature trails and avoid conversations, as this will allow you to hear and sense a variety of animal sounds.

If you want to experience more and still have enough strength, climb the Ziegenhellen up to 818 mm above sea level (please follow the local hiking trail signs). From the observation tower there, you have a fantastic panoramic view over the Sauerland region

A stop at the Hombergjause is highly recommended and after a hike it tastes twice as good in a rustic hut atmosphere.
