We hike along trails on the scenically impressive Hochheide Neuer Hagen and enjoy the unique atmosphere of the high plateau.
From the Hochheide hut, head across the Neuer Hagen nature reserve on the Hochheide towards the Hoppecke spring. When you reach the Rothaarsteig, turn right and walk along the edge of the Hochheide past the Clemensberg, which is worth a detour with panoramic views, back to the starting point.
Make sure you wear good footwear. Winter boots with a good profile or with snow claws are particularly suitable. Dress appropriately for the weather. Take a cell phone with you in case of an emergency. Use walking poles to ensure a secure grip on snow and ice. Bear in mind that walking on snow can take longer. There may be icy patches on sunny slopes.
A stop at the Hochheidehütte is simply part of every winter hike on the Hochheide.
You can reach Winterberg-Niedersfeld via the main road 480. In the center of Niedersfeld, turn off and follow the signs to "Hochheide".
