The Rose Ring - Rock 'n' Rose

From the Grimm Monument in Assinghausen, follow the "Rosenring" trail markers along Grimmestraße toward Olsberg until you reach the street "Vockelied," which leads uphill and offers wonderful panoramic views.The trail leads across a plateau toward Bruchhausen. With a view of the Bruchhauser Steine, you’ll now pass the “Wegebreite” hiking cross.Many wild roses line the path here. Don’t miss the small meadow path that leads past the farmstead into the center of Bruchhausen. The estate café and the rose garden at Bruchhausen Castle invite you to take a relaxing break and enjoy a light snack. Heading toward the town center, you’ll reach the Bruchhausen hiking sign and thus the start and end point. From the Bruchhausen hiking sign, follow the “Rosenring” markers and walk to the street “Am kleinen Berg.”Before the second house, the trail continues uphill, offering a wonderful view of the “Bruchhauser Steine,” to the hiking crosses “Eichen Knäppchen” and “Auf der Heu.” On this plateau, you can enjoy a “360° panorama.” A winding forest path now takes you past a small stream until you are treated to a view of both the “Bruchhauser Steine” and the “Strüker Stein,” the little brother of the four rock giants. Now the Rosenring leads downhill along the historic Way of the Cross to the Küsterlandkapelle. Here you reach the Küsterland, a park with unique plantings. Of course, the rose once again takes center stage here. The “Rosenrosenkranz” (Rose Rosary), created in 2019, is unique in its design and invites hikers to pause and reflect in this special park. The Lourdes Grotto and the small chapel are also noteworthy.Between the Frog Fountain and the chapel, you’ll then climb up to a ridge. The path leads you toward the church along Brunnenweg. On the stairs behind the church, you’ll descend to the “Reisen-Speicher,” Olsberg’s oldest building, dating from 1556. Here you’ll also find the “Romantic Garden” and, not far away, the “Klostergärtchen,” as well as the Grimm Monument below the “Zur Höhe” inn.
