Latest Information on Our Forests - The Bark Beetle and Its Impact

Forest owners are working to implement the necessary measures in the forests and remove the damaged timber. However, due to the scale of the problem, this work cannot be completed quickly. The clearing and reforestation of the damaged forest stands will therefore take a long time and may occasionally lead to disruptions such as closures and detours in the forests. Please keep this in mind whenever you visit the woods.

We therefore appeal to everyone who cares about the forest:

Please understand that, given the current situation, extensive forest work is necessary and will be part of your forest experience for the time being.

Please be especially vigilant during your recreational activities and follow all posted signs and, where applicable, restrictions.

We’ll hike around the Weddelberg—which is just under 500 meters high—on natural trails and paths, and one of the highlights will be the Hasenkammerblick, where, as the name suggests, the view looks out over the Hasenkammertal valley. We’ll also enjoy a sweeping view of the Rothaar Mountains. A panoramic sign explains the surrounding mountains. Up here, it’s also a great spot to take a leisurely break. A forest sofa, along with a wooden table and bench, warmly invite you to relax.
