The starting point of the loop hike is at the Weddelsee Hiking Portal, where the Medebach Bergweg trail also begins.

On natural trails and paths, we’ll explore the Weddelberg, which rises to just under 500 meters. Since the spruce trees in the forest fell victim to bark beetles and had to be cut down, the route offers beautiful views of Center Parcs Hochsauerland and the AVENTURA - SpielBerg. A small highlight awaits us at the rest area at Hasenkammerblick, where—as the name suggests—the view extends into the Hasenkammertal valley. A panoramic information board explains the surrounding mountains. Up here, it’s also a great spot to take a leisurely break. A forest sofa, along with a wooden table and bench, warmly invite you to relax. Winding paths lead downhill through the forest all the way down to Weddelsee.

Latest Information on Our Forests—The Bark Beetle and Its Impact

Forest owners are working to implement the necessary measures in the forests and remove the damaged timber. However, due to the scale of the problem, this work cannot be completed quickly. The clearing and reforestation of the damaged forest stands will therefore take a long time and may occasionally lead to disruptions such as closures and detours in the forests. Please keep this in mind whenever you visit the forest.

We therefore appeal to everyone who cares about the forest:

Please understand that, given the current situation, extensive forest work is necessary and will be part of your forest experience for the time being.

Please be especially vigilant during your recreational activities and follow all posted signs and, where applicable, restrictions.

Please be considerate...
