The Vorspanneiche - a historical resting place
The name Vorspanne Oak suggests that this pass in the Sauerland has always been an important traffic route. It means that in former times the horses of the merchants' wagons were unharnessed at this location. Previously, they had been borrowed in the valley as additional tractive power to overcome the mountain more easily.
Round hiking tip Border stories up close: The themed hiking trail "Border stories up close" makes it possible to experience these and other cultural and natural stories through podcasts on 4.5 km. Simply follow the circular hiking trail A2 through the Dollenbruch nature reserve from the Vorspanneiche hiking parking lot.
Round hiking tip Brachtser Höhenweg: A lot of variety is offered on the 13.5 km long round tour of the Brachtser Höhenweg. The palette ranges from quiet forest passages, great stream meanders, beautiful distant views to the cultural treasure of the pilgrimage church Kohlhagen, which you should definitely visit. On the way, you can refresh yourself at the Gut Ahe café and country inn.
