The audio trail "Buchenwälder rund um Schanze" (beech forests around Schanze) is an 11 km long circular trail through the forests near Schanze. It consists of a total of 13 stations. Since these stations build on each other in terms of content, you should hike the circular trail counterclockwise from station 1-13. All stations are marked on site with a post and sign and provided with another QR code, with which you can call up the audio files in German, Dutch and English.

Directions
On the Rothaarsteig you will first pass the Altarstein. Then the trail leads you, past the thick oak, to the suspension bridge. With great views over the Schmallenberg Sauerland, the tour then leads you back to the hilltop village of Schanze. During the tour you will also discover three sculptures of the WaldSkulpturenWeg.
Safty guidelines
A rescue point system is installed in the Hochsauerlandkreis. Rescue points can be found, among other things, on the information boards of the junctions and hiking signs.
