You can literally breathe history when you stand between earthen walls and excavations on the Borberg and let your gaze wander over the vast landscape.
Mystical, that is the word that immediately comes to mind when you immerse yourself in this world. Where already the Teutons built a ring wall against the Celts, where in the 13th century a church was built, of which only the foundation walls still stand, and where an early medieval cemetery offered the inhabitants of the surrounding area a final resting place.
At the highest point today is the Borberg Chapel from 1925, from where one has a fantastic view of Olsberg. The most historical place of the whole urban area is located southeast of the city of Brilon, not far from the Hiebammenhütte.
The trail can also be extended with start and finish at the marketplace in Brilon. Then the KM number increases to 12.5 km. Marked throughout with the B1.
Start from the Hilbringse hikers' parking lot on the Brilon Kammweg and the Rothaarsteig in the direction of Borberg on the Rothaarsteig and the Brilon Kammweg. Parallel to the gravelled path, you reach the Borberg via paths. After circling the Borberg with its excavations, chapel and hut, one passes the large wooden cross and rejoins the rest of the trail. After the wayside shrine of St. Anthony, the path turns left again in the direction of the hikers' parking lot.If you like it longer, you can start from the market place in Brilon, pass the bus stops in Strackestraße until shortly after the small traffic circle the first path post with the marking B1 points to the left. Then go straight on for about 3 km until you reach the hikers' parking lot.
Rescue points on the trail posts
